Marcelo is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays for Spanish club Real Madrid and the Brazil national team. Although he is best known as "Marcelo", his full name is Marcelo Vieira da Silva Junior. He has been playing soccer ever since he was a young boy and he is mainly positioned at left back but is interchangeable with left winger. Growing up, he grew up in a great deal of poverty and he even considered quiting soccer. Now, he is famed for his talent and skills which he currently demonstrates on the Spanish team Real Madrid.
In January, 2007, Marcelo joined the famous Spanish team, Real Madrid. After starting off with the position left-back, Marcelo progressed into filling the role as a winger. After trying out this new position, he was able to adapt well and become a progressive scorer. His new position was put at wing rather than left-back. Starting off as a bench player, Marcelo worked his way up and eventually earned his spot on the starting 11 under the management of Manuel Pellegrini.
